Jockey Club registered as “Oh Dexter”, Dexter is a coming 6 year old Thoroughbred gelding standing at just over 17 hands. He has a lovely uphill build with lots of substance in his legs and excellent feet. Has been completely sound barefoot since being off the track, recently was put into front shoes just for trail riding purposes due to our wet winter being harder on his feet. Dexter retired sound from racing as a 3 year old and has been getting restarted as an event horse since then. His owner has taken her time with his education to allow him adequate time to grow and develop. Dexter has a solid foundation on the flat with large, rhythmic gaits and a natural propensity for uphill movement. He is started on basic lateral work and offers a change, just needs to develop consistency.

Dexter has done a few small shows over fences at the 2’3” level. He has schooled at home lots and is forward and brave to fences without being strong. With that said, he is a big horse with a massive stride so needs a confident rider to manage him and help him continue to develop over fences. He has a huge and powerful jump with lots of room to continue moving up. Soft snaffle mouth for flatting and jumping and very responsive and rideable up to fences. Hacks out alone on trails. Great to trailer. Dexter has been brought up by an amateur in a program since retiring from racing. He is a sensitive ride and while well behaved with a fantastic foundation, can still have some moments that show his youth so is best suited to a confident and experienced junior or amateur in a program or would also be a very promising horse for a professional to bring along. Massive potential in the show jumping or eventing rings. A wicked prospect for a rider looking for an incredibly talented horse to take them where they want to go.
